In June we resided a couple of days on the island of Folegandros, in the Cyclades. Perhaps you would like to know in which place we stayed?
Folegandros has three small villages, Karavostasi (the port where you arrive by ferry), Chora and Ano Meria. Agali Beach also has some houses and hotels.
We stayed in Chora, the most important settlement on the island.
When you know that the whole island has less than 700 inhabitants, then you understand that the word “town” is not really suitable.
Chora is located at an altitude of 200 meters above sea level, with stunning sea views. It is built on a steep cliff.
We reserved a room in the Aria Boutique Hotel, slightly influenced by the word “boutique”, because of the sea vistas and for having the heart of Chora (with all the restaurants) within walking distance.
We had a room more or less behind and below the swimming pool, not in the main building. This was fantastic because of the amazing view we had from our balcony.
Would we recommend it? Yes, because of its stunning location, its friendly staff and its amazing views. They also offer a free pickup service from the seaport.
Read our blog post about getting there.
We also appreciated the flexibility. Because our fast ferry was cancelled we had to call the hotel last minute to say we could not reach the island. They cancelled the night at no extra cost.
